The Best Character Dining at Disneyland Paris – Our Family Ranking

Character dining is one of the absolute highlights of any Disney trip — and when you’re in Disneyland Paris with kids (or Disney-loving grownups like us), these experiences make the magic feel real. We’ve tried all four of the main character dining options in the parks and Disney hotels, and each has something special to offer — from elegant princesses to a joyful, buffet-style breakfast with the classics.

So here’s our personal take: our ranking of the best character dining experiences at Disneyland Paris, based on the characters we met, the food, atmosphere, and overall vibe — including prices in EUR, GBP, and USD to help you plan ahead.

4. La Table de Lumière – The Hidden Gem for Adults & Older Kids

Meal: Gourmet Table-Service Dinner
Characters: Aurora, Prince Phillip, or rotating royals (can vary)
Cost: €120 adults / €60 kids (~£103 / £51 • ~$130 / $65)

This is definitely the most refined of all the character dining experiences. Located within the Disneyland Hotel, La Table de Lumière feels like stepping into Beauty and the Beast’s ballroom. The lighting, decor, and elegant service make it perfect for celebrating a special occasion.

We were lucky enough to meet Aurora and Prince Phillip — and while the character interaction was shorter, it felt regal and polished. More like a “meet-and-greet over dinner” rather than an immersive playtime. That said, if your kids love the more royal and elegant side of Disney, they’ll feel like true VIPs.

The food was exceptional — we’re talking filet of beef, sea bass, delicate amuse-bouches, and desserts that look like they belong in a patisserie window.

Why We Loved It:

  • Luxurious, calm, and a welcome break from park energy
  • Exceptional food and presentation
  • Perfect for birthdays or Disney-loving adults

Cons:

  • Expensive (and more formal)
  • Not ideal for toddlers or high-energy little ones
  • Limited character appearances, mostly royal pairs

3. Royal Banquet – A Whimsical Fairytale Buffet

Meal: Buffet Dinner
Characters: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy in royal outfits
Cost: €80 adults / €45 kids (~£69 / £39 • ~$86 / $48)

Located in the Royal Castle Club at the Disneyland Hotel, this newer addition quickly became a favourite among returning guests. It’s elegant but still very kid-friendly, and what really sets it apart is the outfits — the characters are dressed like royalty!

The food is buffet-style but upscale — roast meats, seafood, pastas, and an impressive dessert selection that includes mini éclairs and chocolate fountains. Our child loved the “tiny ice cream cones” and Mickey mousse.

The character interactions are relaxed and well-paced — not rushed, not chaotic. Minnie in her royal pink gown was a standout moment for us.

Why We Loved It:

  • Stunning setting, especially in the evening
  • Great variety of food, even for fussy eaters
  • Unique character costumes make it feel extra special

Cons:

  • Hard to book unless you’re staying at the hotel
  • Less “playful” vibe — better for slightly older kids

2. Auberge de Cendrillon – Princess Dreams Come True

Meal: Table-Service Lunch or Dinner
Characters: Cinderella, Suzy and Perla (mice), and 2-3 other princesses (e.g., Snow White, Belle, Ariel)
Cost: €95 adults / €55 kids (~£82 / £48 • ~$102 / $59)

This one’s for the fairytale lovers. Auberge de Cendrillon is the most “magical” experience in terms of storytelling — you step into a castle courtyard and are greeted by Cinderella’s mice, followed by actual princesses gliding from table to table in full royal grace.

We went for lunch and it felt like dining inside a dream. Belle sat with our little one for a full five minutes chatting (bless her patience), and Cinderella gave us the most beautiful photo — the kind you want to frame when you get home.

The food is a step up here: it’s a 3-course French-style meal — mains like beef, fish, or vegetarian pasta; a kid-friendly option with Mickey-shaped sides; and gorgeous desserts served like art.

Why We Loved It:

  • Intimate, slower-paced experience
  • Genuine time with princesses (not just photos)
  • Beautiful setting, especially for birthdays or special days
  • Food is fancy but still enjoyable for picky eaters

Cons:

  • Pricey — especially for families
  • Not great for wiggly toddlers who don’t sit still long
  • Characters don’t repeat, so timing matters

1. Plaza Gardens Restaurant – The Classic & Most Magical Morning Start

Meal: Breakfast Buffet
Characters: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Tigger, Eeyore (can vary)
Cost: €50 adults / €30 kids (~£43 / £26 • ~$54 / $32)

We kicked off our Disney days with breakfast at Plaza Gardens, and honestly, it just felt like the perfect start. Tucked away at the end of Main Street, the Victorian-style dining room is bright and beautiful, and as soon as we sat down, the character parade began.

Mickey came to our table within minutes — followed closely by Goofy, then Minnie. They’re so warm and playful with little ones (and totally happy to pose for multiple photos, even if you blink and miss the first one). Our toddler was shy at first, but seeing Mickey kneel down and wave gently changed everything. By the end, we had a full album of hugs and high-fives.

The food? It’s a hearty breakfast buffet — think scrambled eggs, sausage, pastries, croissants, pancakes, cereal, and fruit. Nothing fancy, but exactly what you want to fill up before a big day in the parks.

Why We Loved It:

  • Characters rotate quickly so no long waits
  • High energy and relaxed
  • Great for toddlers and nervous little ones
  • Early entry to the park (if you book the 8:15am slot!)

Cons:

  • It can feel a little chaotic during peak times
  • Buffet isn’t gourmet, but very kid-friendly
