Some hotel rooms are memorable.
Some are comfortable.
And then there are rooms that make you stop mid-scroll and think, “There’s no way that’s real.”
This was one of those stays.
We spent the night in one of the most unusual hotel rooms we’ve ever come across in Amsterdam — a room that looks nothing like a hotel room at all. From the moment we walked in, it felt more like stepping into an experience than checking in for the night.
At first though, nothing felt out of the ordinary.
A Normal Hotel… at First
The hotel itself is Corendon Amsterdam New-West, and on the surface, it feels exactly like what you’d expect from a modern Amsterdam hotel. It’s clean, stylish, and well laid out. There’s nothing gimmicky about the lobby or the public spaces, and if you didn’t know what room you were staying in, you’d probably assume this was just a solid place to stay for a city break.
Check-in was calm, the hotel wasn’t busy when we arrived, and everything felt easy. So far, so normal.
And then we opened the door to the room.

Walking Into the Room
Our first reaction was simple:
I like this.
And then it took a second to fully register what we were looking at.
Built directly into the room was a real Boeing 737. Not a model. Not a themed decoration. An actual aircraft, sitting inside the suite, close enough to touch, walk around, and properly take in.
It’s one of those moments where you instinctively walk towards it, step back, and then walk towards it again just to make sure your brain has caught up with your eyes.
This wasn’t just unusual. It was genuinely impressive.
The 737 Suite: More Than Just a Gimmick
The room we stayed in is called the 737 Suite, and while the plane is obviously the main feature, what surprised us most was how well the rest of the room worked around it.
You’re encouraged to interact with the plane — to walk up to it, explore it, and just enjoy the novelty of being in a space that feels completely different from a normal hotel room. There’s something oddly nostalgic about it too. Standing there, messing around, and taking it all in, it really does make you feel like a kid again.
Despite how unusual it is, the suite still functions properly as a hotel room. It doesn’t feel like the plane has been squeezed in at the expense of comfort. Everything feels intentional and well thought out.
It’s clear this wasn’t done as a quick viral idea — a lot of care has gone into making it work.

Comfort vs Novelty
With a room like this, it would be easy for comfort to take a back seat.
But surprisingly, that’s not the case here.
The bed was comfortable, the space felt calm once you settled in, and nothing felt awkward or impractical. Once the initial excitement wore off, it still felt like somewhere you could properly relax — just with a plane sitting next to you.
There honestly wasn’t anything we didn’t like about the room, which isn’t something we say very often.
Is It Worth the Price?
We paid just under £250 for one night, which obviously isn’t cheap.
But once we saw the room in person, it genuinely felt worth it. You’re not paying for a slightly nicer view or an upgraded bathroom — you’re paying for an experience that’s very hard to find anywhere else.
Unlike some viral hotel rooms, this one actually delivers on what it promises. It doesn’t feel underwhelming or overhyped once you’re inside. If anything, it’s better than expected.
For what it is, the price felt justified.
Food & Drink at the Hotel
We ate at the hotel for both dinner and breakfast, and this was another pleasant surprise.
The food was really nice — not just “acceptable hotel food”, but genuinely enjoyable. It’s the kind of place you’d happily eat at even if you weren’t staying overnight, which says a lot.
It adds to the feeling that Corendon Amsterdam New-West is a good hotel in its own right, not just a place relying on one unusual room.

Location & Getting Around Amsterdam
The hotel is well connected, with tram stops nearby and an easy drive into the centre of Amsterdam. You’re not right in the heart of the city, but you’re also not isolated or stuck.
For a stay like this, the location works well. You get something different without sacrificing convenience.
Who Is This Room For?
Honestly? Everyone.
Couples, families, aviation fans, or anyone who enjoys staying somewhere a bit different — this room has wide appeal. It’s not intimidating, not uncomfortable, and not niche in a way that limits who would enjoy it.
We genuinely can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t enjoy this stay.
Would We Stay Again?
Yes.
Without hesitation.
For the price, the room is incredible, and it delivers exactly what you hope it will. This is one of those stays where you leave feeling glad you booked it rather than wondering if it was worth it.
If a friend asked us whether they should book it, our answer would be simple:
Yes — 100%.
Final Thoughts
Staying in a hotel room with a real plane inside it sounds like something that could easily be a gimmick.
But this wasn’t.
It was genuinely unique, really well executed, and surprisingly comfortable. It’s rare to stay somewhere that makes you smile the moment you walk in — and even rarer for that feeling to last throughout the night.
If you’re looking for one of the most unusual hotel rooms in Amsterdam, this one absolutely lives up to the hype.
